OFFERINGS

Water, fire, air, and earth each play a critical role in how our natural world functions. Each element is powerful in its own right, but grows stronger in partnership. Consider how a match can’t ignite without the presence of air, and a dandelion relies on rain for nourishment. The elements remind us that every day, we experience balance in the alchemy of nature’s processes. What we’ve learned is that nature is also quite loud about the consequences of imbalance. Climate change is a reminder of how disruptive dysregulation can be on a larger scale.

Our offerings honor what we’ve learned from the world around us.  We reject extraction culture and instead aim to infuse balance into all we do. Like the four elements, each offering contributes to an ecosystem of creation. We offer these as tools of trauma-informed care for communities.

Lauren’s Day!

In August 2021, Lauren Metlock shared an idea with Theo. Lauren wanted to create an event providing mental health-related programming, art projects, and community to celebrate young people with incarcerated loved ones and uplift their mental and emotional needs. Though life events tragically precluded Lauren from being able to implement her vision, Generative Chaos, in partnership with the Coalition to Decarcerate Illinois collaborated to give a home to Lauren’s vision.

The first annual Lauren’s Day took place on June 4th, 2023 in Washington Park. We felt the weight of Lauren’s physical absence but felt her presence in the space, the clear skies and sunshine throughout the event, and the smiles between stretches during all-ages yoga. Through this event, we aim to water the seed that Lauren planted but unfortunately, cannot be here to tend to. We hope to grow this garden in Lauren’s honor.

Gratitude to Lauren Metlock’s family and loved ones, our community of grillmasters, parents, partners, healers, co-conspirators, and friends. Thank you for supporting Lauren’s vision.

Our second annual Lauren’s Day! is scheduled for August 2024. Stay tuned for more updates!

Conspiracy Space

Conspire means to breathe together. In Conspiracy Space, we do just that. Is it possible, that the same people that do not want us to conspire—against governments, regimes, unsafety—also do not want us…to breathe…together? We believe the answer is yes, and we practice on purpose.

Stay tuned for updates about our Conspiracy Space Offering.

Gifts For Loved Ones is a store operated by Generative Chaos. The store features locally made handmade planetary offerings that make great gifts for any cosmically inclined loved ones in your life (yes, you count too!). All proceeds from this store are collected to sustain our sliding scale model to fight against the economic barriers to mental health access. The cost of one gift covers a one-hour session with a Generative Chaos therapist. Generative Chaos psychotherapy clients are never expected or required to purchase any store goods to receive services. Subscribe to our newsletter for updates on the online store launch.

Psychotherapy

Generative Chaos is currently not accepting new psychotherapy clients.

Because we believe psychotherapy is one of many paths to healing, we’ve curated alternative resources to support you toward personal wellness. Our list features mental health practice referrals for psychotherapy, along with other BIPOC and LGBTQIA-centered resources for crisis support, medical care, volunteer opportunities, and more. The list is updated regularly, and we welcome any healing justice-aligned additions—just reach out

On The Cusp

Much of what we've learned as a team can be traced back to Octavia Butler. Parable of the Sower's protagonist Lauren Olamina taught us about staying prepared and grounded amidst chaos. Earthseed reminds us that "the only lasting truth is Change," and amid crisis, we can sow seeds for new worlds.

On The Cusp is a monthly newsletter of offerings for your toolkit in an ever-changing world. Each month features an Earthseed Kit, a collection of recommended reading + listening for each monthly astrological season. The guide also offers a Letter for the Heart, virtual + in-person events, a tarot-inspired playlist, and updates on what the Generative Chaos team is up to.
